To switch to your external mic on your 4Runner 2014-2019 and 2014-2024 kits. Please follow the steps below:
In the Apps Drawer
- Go to "Settings".
- Scroll down to “Factory” on the left-hand side.
- Enter Password "123456".
- Scroll to find “Microphone Selection”.
- Change to “Rear” for external mic.
You can order any aftermarket 3.5mm microphone including ones on Amazon (for under $10) that have foam covers. Hamilton includes a basic external microphone.

@Matthew Hays Not sure if you received a direct response from them. There is no direct port. Use the harness for aftermarket components that came with the head unit. Attach it to the head unit and then connect your aftermarket external mic to the 3.5 mm connection wire.
