Differences in installation between 2009-2013 and 2014-2021

  • 2014-2021

We have a complete installation video for this product available on our YouTube channel here:

We are working on making more overview videos of this product, but the interface is the same as our 4Runner product which has some explanation videos on YouTube.

    2009-2013

The installation process for the 2009-2013 version is basically identical. The only difference is instead of making the connections behind the central control unit, the wires connect behind the factory screen.

An image of the back of the 2009-2013 Lexus GX factory head unit/screen is installed. As you can see the connections are the same but they are behind the screen instead of the behind the factory radio. Also the blue LVDS wire (circled) is not needed on the 2009-2013 Lexus GX, whereas it is connected on the 2014-2021 through our green wire.

On the 2009-2013 the Hamilton light blue LVDS will connect into the back of your factory screen but there will not be a factory wire from this plug to connect to anything.

  • So on a 2010 Lexus GX with the CD player the Hamilton light blue LVDS wire does or doesn't connect into the factory screen? The non-bold and bold explanations seem conflicting.  I guess the simpler question would be does the light blue connector on the factory screen end up vacant, and the light blue factory wire that was plugged in there now remain unplugged?
    Thanks!

  • Hey @Kurt Alexander I am so sorry for the confusion. The light blue Hamilton LVDS wire does plug into the back of your factory screen. Don't be concerned if there wasn't a wire there from the factory for the light blue Hamilton female LVDS wire.
